Mera peak Expedition
14 Days

5 Excellent
Highest Trekking Peak in the Everest Region.
Expedition Overview
This expedition is one of the most underrated climbs in the Himalayas and is an excellent choice for anyone looking to experience high altitude in a safe and rewarding way. Despite reaching over 6,000 meters, the route is non-technical, making it ideal for climbers who are new to the Himalayas.
It is the perfect introduction to Himalayan mountaineering, offering breathtaking scenery, valuable high-altitude experience, and the opportunity to build confidence before taking on more challenging expeditions in the future.
This expedition is offered with a 1:1 Sherpa to climber ratio. There is no western leader from Altitude Junkies Inc. present on the expedition.
Leadership
A seasoned veteran Sherpa with multiple summits will assist a climber during this expedition.
Helicopters
We utilize helicopters from Kathmandu flying to Lukla and then Kothe. The Lukla fixed-wing flights are very weather dependent and we believe helicopters are a safer option. At the conclusion of the expedition we will take helicopter flights from Khare back to Kathmandu.
The Trek to Base Camp
After arriving at Kothe by helicopter we will acclimatize next day as well and start trekking to khare. Each evening we will stay in the best teahouse lodges on route and our Sherpa staff will supervise all food preparation in the lodge kitchens. We will take cautious acclimatization rest days at Kothe, Thangnak and Khare.
Base Camp
Our base camp will be one of the teahouse lodges at Khare. The lodge will provide three hot meals and provide drinks and boiled water.
Climb Strategy
Mera is a Non technical peak and the route will have fixed ropes in place where necessary for the safety of all the climbers and Sherpa staff. We have allocated 5 days at khare and above to allow ample time for additional rope fixing as well as contingency days in case we experience bad weather.
The Route
- From Kothe(3580m) to Thangnak(4356m) we hike along a river and moraine ridge with amazing views and route till we get to Thagnak.
- The climb from Thangnak heads up Khare(5045m) the settlement of village where lodges and tea houses are operated as Base camp.We will be acclimatizing here.
- From Khare(5045m) we start the climbing using fixed ropes with sherpa support to the high camp(5780m).The route is gradually ascending till we reach High camp crossing the famous Mera la .
- The rest of the summit day is technically easier the route involves snow and ice up to 50 degrees below the summit which is climbed using the safety of the fixed ropes in place.

High Altitude Camps
3-person tents will be used at high camps and will be shared with your climbing partners. All high altitude food, stoves and cooking gas will be in place .
