At Altitude Junkies, we go against the current trend of luxury mountaineering. Our philosophy is simple: keep it small, keep it simple, and keep it authentic. We believe that true adventure lies not in oversized tents or coffee machines, but in the teamwork, challenges, and raw beauty of the mountains themselves. 

When you climb with us, you are not just buying a service, you are joining a family of climbers and Sherpas who live and breathe mountaineering.

Small Teams, Strong Bonds

Our expeditions, peak climbing and trekking are limited to a maximum of 8 members. 

Why small teams? Because this creates a close-knit environment where every climber truly gets to know one another. Our teams are often made up of mountaineers from different countries and backgrounds, yet by the end of the expedition, they are bonded like family. Climbers share stories, laugh over meals, help each other on the route, and celebrate victories together. 

This small team approach also strengthens the connection with our Sherpa staff. You don’t just climb with Sherpas you become part of their team. The mountain is not about isolation; it’s about trust, teamwork, and shared adventure.

We understand that for many climbers, the mountains are deeply personal. Whether you’re climbing for self-discovery, research, a personal milestone, or simply the love of the mountains, your journey belongs to you.

We will never publish your photos, videos, expedition updates, or personal information without your explicit consent. If you prefer a completely private expedition with no social media posts, marketing content, or public exposure, simply let us know before your expedition. We will fully respect your decision.
Our commitment to your privacy goes beyond social media. We will not announce or publish news about your successful or unsuccessful summit attempt unless you have given us permission to do so.
At Altitude Junkies, we believe that success in the mountains is not measured only by standing on the summit. True success is experiencing the journey, making sound decisions, and returning home safely to the people who matter most.

Base Camp the Classic Way

We do not market “luxury base camps” with huge dome tents, sofas, coffee machines, and even televisions. But we believe this is not mountaineering, it’s hotel camping. 

At Altitude Junkies, we keep Base Camp authentic, practical,sustainable and simple. Our camp setup is designed with three priorities: comfort, warmth, and efficiency.

• We use classic dome tents. Their ceilings are not high, but they are warm, efficient, and far more practical than oversized structures. Each dome tent is heated until 8:00 pm, ensuring warmth during evening meals but also encouraging climbers to rest early and sleep well at altitude.
  
  
• Meals are served the classic way, with all food laid out on the dining table. Our experienced cooks are known across the Himalayas for preparing some of the best expedition food. Nutritious, diverse, and energizing meals ensure that climbers stay strong throughout the expedition.
  
  
• Each climber receives their own personal tent, insulated with a foam floor covering and provided with an extra-thick foam mattress. This balance of comfort and practicality ensures proper rest without unnecessary luxury.
  
  
• For group needs, we provide double-walled dining and communication tents. These are carpeted, solar-lit, heated, and equipped with large padded chairs. They are spacious enough to gather the team comfortably but still designed with sustainability in mind.
  
  
• Our toilet and shower tents are clean, solar-lit, and fully equipped with stainless steel wash sinks and hot-water showers.We remove all human waste from Base Camp and higher camps, transporting it to villages below for proper disposal. This is our commitment to leaving the mountain as we found it.
  
  

Why We Say “No” to Unnecessary Luxury

We often tell our clients that we are not in the business of creating a luxury hotel at Base Camp. If you want sofas, televisions, and coffee machines, those are waiting for you at home. On the mountain, we choose simplicity and efficiency.

• No oversized dome tents. These days operators carry 300kg dome tents to Base Camp. It takes 20 workers three days to set them up, and often they must flatten and damage parts of the glacier just to prepare the ground. This is unnecessary labor at high altitude and creates an environmental impact. We believe in leaving the mountain as untouched as possible.
  
  
• No heavy coffee machines. A 90kg machine requiring generators makes no sense at altitude. We prefer espresso pots and Aero press coffee makers, which weigh less than 1kg and make equally good coffee without noise, without fuel, and without damage to the mountain.
  
  
• No noisy generators. Large fuel-powered generators pollute both the air and the peace of Base Camp. Climbers need rest, and a constant hum disturbs recovery. Instead, we rely on solar power for clean, quiet energy.
  
  
• No giant flags. We do not install 13-foot-tall flags that flap loudly day and night in strong winds. This creates constant noise pollution in Base Camp. We prefer to keep Base Camp peaceful.
  
  
• No storage of gear at higher camps for future seasons. Leaving tents and equipment on the mountain creates waste and damages the climbing environment. We remove all our gear at the end of the expedition, always.
  

Adventure Over Luxury

Some people might call us a “cheap operator” because we avoid excess luxury. But the truth is, our Base Camp is just as comfortable, if not more, than many of the more expensive operators.   The difference is our focus. We prioritize teamwork, authentic adventure, and sustainability over heavy, unnecessary comforts. Climbing is not about sofas and big-screen TVs; it is about pushing yourself, trusting your team, and experiencing the mountain as it is.   We believe that luxury belongs at home. The Himalayas offer something far greater the adventure of a lifetime.
