Trekking Life

What to aspect with Junkies while trekking

We believe trekking should be about experiencing the mountains, local culture, and the journey itself, not unnecessary luxury. Our trekking philosophy is simple: authentic, comfortable, and professionally managed.

Unlike many operators, we do not recommend fixed-wing flights to Lukla during the busy trekking seasons. These flights often operate from Ramechhap, requiring a 1:00–2:00 AM departure from Kathmandu followed by a 4–5 hour drive. Weather delays are also common, and trekkers can spend days waiting for flights. Whenever possible, we recommend helicopter transfers, providing a smoother, more comfortable, and far less stressful start to your adventure while minimizing logistical delays.

Throughout the trek, you will stay in clean, locally operated teahouses that we have built long-standing relationships with over the past 10 years. These are not luxury lodges but comfortable mountain accommodations that offer a warm bed, welcoming hospitality, and an authentic Himalayan experience. By working with the same trusted teahouses year after year, we ensure consistent service, cleanliness, and reliable accommodation for our guests.
Your guide plays an important role throughout the journey. In addition to leading the trek, your guide will assist in selecting meals from the lodge menus and help maintain good food hygiene by recommending safe and nutritious options suitable for trekking at altitude. They are also there to monitor your health, answer your questions, and ensure that the group enjoys a safe and memorable experience.

All meals are included during the trek according to the package you have booked. However, beverages such as bottled water, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees, and other personal refreshments are not included unless specifically mentioned in your itinerary. Any personal expenses, including laundry, charging electronic devices, Wi-Fi, hot showers, snacks, and additional drinks, are the responsibility of each trekker.

Our trekking groups are intentionally kept small, allowing our guides to provide personal attention and maintain a comfortable pace for everyone. We encourage trekkers to walk steadily, enjoy the scenery, interact with local communities, and embrace the unique rhythm of life in the Himalayas.
At Altitude Junkies, we don’t just take you to the mountains, we help you experience them the classic way, with honest guidance, reliable logistics, and a genuine passion for adventure.
