• Do I need to buy all of the equipment before my trip?

No. Many technical items such as down suits, mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axes, harnesses, helmets, and sleeping bags can be rented in Kathmandu. We recommend purchasing personal clothing and equipment that you’ll use regularly, while renting specialized climbing gear if preferred.

• What happens if I forget an essential item?

Most trekking and climbing equipment is available in Kathmandu. Our team can help you purchase or rent any missing gear before your departure, ensuring you’re fully prepared for the mountains.

• Can Altitude Junkies review my gear before the expedition?

Yes. We provide a complimentary gear consultation before your trip. Once you’ve prepared your equipment, you can send us photos or a packing list, and we’ll review it to ensure you have everything required for your chosen trek or expedition.

• Is the gear list the same for every trek and expedition?

No. Equipment requirements vary depending on the altitude, season, and objective. A trek to Everest Base Camp requires different gear than a 6,000 m, 7,000 m, or 8,000 m expedition. Please follow the specific gear list provided for your trip to ensure you are properly equipped.
