Phil Crampton

Phil is one of the most experienced and active climbers presently organizing and leading expeditions in the Himalayas. His wry British New Yorker sense of humor, strong leadership skills, and passionate interest in both the mountains and people of the Himalayas and their culture ensure an unforgettable experience in high Asia.

He has led over 55 expeditions to 8000-meter peaks including 18 Everest expeditions, Tibet (8 times) and Nepal (10 times), Annapurna, Broad Peak (2 times), Cho Oyu (9 times), Dhaulagiri, Gasherbrum I (4 times), Gasherbrum II (4 times), Kanchenjunga, Lhotse (6 times), Makalu (3 times), Manaslu (8 times) and Shishapangma (2 times). Elsewhere in the Himalaya, he has led trips to multiple 6,000 and 7,000-meter peaks including Ama Dablam (6 times), Baruntse (2 times), Cholatse (9 times), Kang Guru, Kyajo Ri (2 times), Mustagh Ata (3 times), Pumori (2 times) and Ganesh I.

On the other continents he has climbed Denali, Aconcagua, Alpamayo, Huascaran, Huantsan and many other smaller peaks across the globe. Phil holds the American avalanche standard AIARE level 2 certification and is a member of the AMGA (American Mountain Guides Association). When not on an expedition, Phil divides his time between Kathmandu, Nepal and New York, which he both calls home.

Mountaineering is in Pasangs DNA being from a family of well known Sherpa mountaineers. He has a degree in Mountaineering Studies and has spent the last 12 plus years plus organizing expeditions for various western expedition companies. An accomplished climber himself, he is responsible for all the details on our Himalayan Expeditons.

He has extensive experience climbing some of the Himalayas’ most iconic peaks, including Mount Everest (8,848.86 m), Himlung Himal (7,126 m), Cholatse (6,440 m), and Mera Peak (6,476 m). In addition, he has completed numerous trekking and mountaineering expeditions across the Himalayas, giving him in-depth knowledge of high-altitude logistics, expedition planning, and the ability to effectively manage the unique challenges of remote mountain environments.

In addition to running the Altitude Junkies Himalayan program, Pasang is owner of a new gear company, Alpinware, creating and producing innovative alpine climbing gear from his beloved home of Kathmandu.

Pasang Nima Sherpa has been an integral part of the Altitude Junkies team for more than 10 years. During his mountaineering career, he has successfully summited some of the world’s most iconic peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Himlung Himal, Mera Peak, Island Peak, and Lobuche East.
As the Expedition Sirdar for our 8,000-meter expeditions, Pasang is responsible for leading our Sherpa team, managing high-altitude logistics, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of every expedition. Although naturally quiet and humble, he is exceptionally professional, dependable, and highly respected by both clients and fellow climbers.
His experience, calm leadership, and commitment to safety have made him one of the cornerstones of Altitude Junkies. We are incredibly proud to have Pasang as part of our team and value the dedication he has shown over the years.

Phurba Sonam Sherpa is one of Altitude Junkies’ most popular climbing leaders, known for his cheerful personality, caring nature, and excellent communication skills. His friendly approach helps clients feel comfortable and confident throughout their expedition.
An experienced and well-educated mountaineer, he has summited Everest from both the Nepal and Tibet sides, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Lobuche East, and Mera Peak, and has trekked extensively across Nepal, including sections of the Great Himalaya Trail (GHT).
A passionate musician, Phurba has even carried his ukulele to the summits of Everest and Ama Dablam, making him one of the most unique guides in the Himalayas. His professionalism, positive attitude, and passion for the mountains make every expedition an unforgettable experience.

Mingma Tenzing Sherpa is a humble, honest, and compassionate guide who has been a valued member of the Altitude Junkies team for many years. He has led numerous trekking groups across Nepal, including several high-pass and remote Himalayan routes.
An experienced climber, Mingma has successfully summited Mera Peak, Island Peak, and Lobuche East. During the off-season, he enjoys rock climbing and sport climbing and proudly represents Altitude Junkies in climbing competitions held in Kathmandu.
His professionalism, reliability, and caring nature make him a trusted guide and an important part of our team.

Da Pasang Sherpa is one of the most important members of the Altitude Junkies expedition team. With over 12 years of dedicated service, he oversees the day-to-day management of our expeditions while ensuring everything at Base Camp runs smoothly.
Widely regarded as one of the most experienced high-altitude expedition cooks in the Himalayas, Dapasang has also summited Mount Everest and has trekked to the base camps of many of Nepal’s 8,000-meter peaks. His professionalism, reliability, and years of mountain experience make him an invaluable part of every Altitude Junkies expedition.

Ang Gelu Sherpa has been a trusted member of the Altitude Junkies team for over 6 years. Strong, reliable, and calm under pressure, he has successfully summited Everest, Annapurna I, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Ama Dablam, and Cholatse with Altitude Junkies.
In addition to his climbing role, Ang Gelu manages and maintains all of our expedition equipment, ensuring it is always ready for the mountains. His professionalism, dedication, and experience make him a true backbone of our expedition team.

Urken Sherpa is a young and dynamic climbing guide with a strong passion for mountaineering and an impressive knowledge of the Himalayas. Despite his young age, he has successfully summited Mount Everest, Manaslu, Ama Dablam, Mera Peak, Island Peak, and Lobuche East, and has trekked across many of Nepal’s renowned high mountain passes.
Known for his energy, professionalism, and commitment to safety, Urken is a trusted member of the Altitude Junkies team. When he is not leading expeditions, he returns to his home in Samagaun, where he enjoys spending time with his wife before preparing for his next adventure in the mountains.

Ang Tsering Sherpa

Ang Tsering Sherpa is an experienced trekking and climbing guide with extensive knowledge of the Nepal Himalayas. He has successfully summited several 6,000m peaks, including Mera Peak, Island Peak, Lobuche Peak, Chulo far east and Lenin Peak.
With a strong background in Himalayan trekking and mountaineering, Ang brings professional guiding, positive energy, and careful attention to client safety to every expedition. He is known for his friendly personality and ability to create a supportive and enjoyable team environment in the mountains.
